casual restaurant, with its great food and relaxed ambiance, is located on the
square in downtown Newton, North Carolina. Convenient to all of Catawba County,
we're close to Hickory, Conover, Morganton, Statesville, Lincolnton, Mooresville
and Taylorsville. We're also within an easy drive of Charlotte, Gastonia, Huntersville,
Davidson and Wilkesboro.

HISTORY Our
historic P.O. Carpenter Building first appeared in downtown Newton, North Carolina
during the 1870s. It was considered a significant architectural achievement because
it was one of the first structures in the area to use steel in its construction.
Some of the original cast iron columns are still evident today along the front
of the restaurant. Although the building housed many different businesses through
the years, it's best known early tenant was a general mercantile store. Today,
the Artist's Cafe is proud to continue the fine P.O. Carpenter heritage of quality
and innovation ... through culinary achievement! FRIENDLY
PROPRIETORS  In
2006, two friends created a partnership with the shared vision of bringing beautiful,
fresh food to Newton and the Catawba Valley of North Carolina.
With thirty years of experience in the restaurant industry, Elias Dimarhos brings
his love of food and flair for hospitality to The Artist's Cafe. A rich heritage
of creating Greek, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, combined with American influences
from New York City, makes Elias a true "Artist" in the kitchen. Tim
Andrews brings a business and marketing background to The Artist's Cafe with years
of experience in broadcasting and wireless communications sales and management.
Tim's contribution ensures that the message about the food and fun at The Artist's
Cafe will always be heard. ART
